« Houston, we have a problem », call the K-911, the fire fighters of stray dogs !

« Houston, K911, we have a problem ! »  No, I'm not at NASA (well, almost, because my Holiday Inn Express Hotel [Webster] is opposite), and neither among firefighters. In fact, I did call in volunteers of Houston K-911 Rescue and Corridor Rescue, the « abandoned dogs firefighters » and so, in the heart of this Texan city of 8 million people, in a green area and suffocating area surrounded of buildings and near the interstate I-10. So, I am, as each of my visits to Houston to Bachman Keller, my little cousin (or distant cousin of Pleigne, my village childhood) and her husband Leonard (see the article below cons) .
Oui, je suis bien au Texas.

1 million stray dogs
You should know that this mega-hyper dense urban area not less than a million abandoned dogs. « Contrary to the north of the USA where it’s colder, dogs Houston live longer, even if they wander the streets. Sometimes they are organized in packs for their livelihood, can attack children, » notes Christine Bachman, PhD Professor of Sociology at the Houston University of Downton. The purpose of these two associations - like the 166 others in the city - is, of course, to take care of these helpless creatures and raise awareness of this animal causes, including sterilization to limit their expansion. For example, but also to show their commitment, Christine and Leonard have adapted two canines, Blanche and Amelia.
On this occasion, I had the privilege to taste a true Texan steak cooked by a real Texan, Leonard, thanks to whom its thermal space capsule is mounted up to 350 degrees F. I will not change the world, click the links below to remind yourself of the good times in Bachman-Keller.
(See links above)
Oh about all, Christine, me praised Facebook, but I'm still not always satisfied. I remain disconnected from that social network (which social ?) of Mark Zuckerberg, because I do not want to make him win more tunes. I prefer to invest on Elon Musk, the « crazy » the space man which I will see the rocket by setting sail for Florida from Tuesday.
So, see you soon…

« Truth », the truth whether the tourist space ship of billionaire Richard Branson crashed October 31, 2014, in the Mojave Desert (CA). The plane was dislocated in flight due to pilot error, a premature operation of the brake system at Mach 0.8 instead of Mach 1.4. The « Consequence » whether the euphoria peaked in March 2013, when we visited - Mauricio Ranzi and myself –the facilities of Spaceport America, faded, relegating indefinitely suborbital flights of tourists. More than three years later, I wanted to realize what happened this spaceport and although it’s really still there, the organizers have made it a place of tourist attraction. Since there is still no ship show, the other show is landing facilities, otherwise the spaceport.

Therefore, the Spaceport America has installed its headquarters in the quiet little town of Truth or Consequence, 6,200 people, in New Mexico. Installed with public « Geronimo Trail National Scenic Byway », the spaceport has a large hall at the rear of the building with a floor located at 301 S. St. Foch At the entrance we are immediately captured by an elegant model of a rocket that is slightly reminiscent of Tintin which is intended for young people.

little further, just aft, a no commercial a no likable hostess stands available to visitors, who can buy items bearing the image of Spaceport America. But no T-shirt for over 15 years! Fun and clean corner where it is possible to travel by bus to the spaceport itself to three quarters of an hour there ... in the desert. See map against.
Why this special airport? To accommodate the Spaceship Two of Virgin Galactic, which was presented in February 2016 and which replaces the first crashed, the spaecraft has yet to undergo a battery of tests and trials (one hundred, it seems) to be certified to fly by the FAA

Not before 2018
Virgin Galactic now prefers not to give a date, to be sure before starting again to conquer space. SpaceShipTwo will be able to carry 6 passengers, in addition to its two pilots, 100 km altitude (in theory), for a suborbital flight… So, an air jump chip !
It is at least not this year or next year, according to my estimates. That is also the truth. My truth.

A bientĂ´t.

It was for the Independence Day. - Photo : rke
It was necessary. I took a good day to achieve the production of Swiss Engineering RTS monthly magazine because August approach. After nine days in Pasadena, I was looking forward to back on the road. The way is long to Florida, and so still 2'551 miles. I must be there for the launch of SpaceX to the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) where I can attend to my 16th rocket U.S. « shoot ».  And then I was a little tired of driving all the time on highways of « six runways » and I was happy later with my « narrow » highways of two tracks.
While driving, I saw by chance the Palm Springs wind farm where I unfortunately did not have time to stop. This farm Col San Giorgino is located in Riverside County on I-10. This is one of the largest parks in California with those of Altamont and the Tehachapi Pass. In January 2008, the farm consisted of 3'218 wind turbines totaling 615 MW.

Then I had to stop to refuel. And then the furnace. Leaving my Kia 4x4 I felt the oppressive heat of 108 degrees F. After a minute, I got accustomed anyway. And then, finally, after eight days (except Monday) I could finally see big cumulus cloud in a clear blue sky ... but ultimately did not give the expected freshness. And coincidentally, again, I came across the museum to the memory of General George S. Patton in World War II. Again, no time to dwell on it too long. And now I’m in Tucson, the Arizona University Town. This Friday, July 8 departure to Las Cruces at the doors of Mexico ... See y’soon.
