[Orlando. March 13, 2019. English below] – Décidément... pas de bol. Mardi 12 mars, croyant bien faire en arrivant bien tôt - 4 heures, une bonne marge – avant de prendre mon vol Orlando-Zurich avec Edelweiss Air, mal m’en a pris. J’ai profité de ce moment pour m’installer confortablement dans un coin en face du guichet d’enregistrement des bagages, vide, évidemment, mais tranquille, afin travailler un peu sur mon ordi. Comme le temps passe. Deux heures plus tard, les hôtesses s’installent enfin à leur poste. Pas de touristes en vue, sauf un ou deux badauds, qui enregistrent leur billet, mais pas leur valise. Il faut dire que l’endroit est pratique, car Edelweiss Air s’est installé au fond du couloir, d’où plus de tranquillité. À leur gauche s’est installé le stand de Lufthansa. Comme la compagnie SWISS fait partie de Lufthansa et que mon vol est affrété aussi par SWISS, quoi de plus normal de changer de guichet... chez Lufthansa. Mais là, la colonne est longue, tout comme l’attente. « Est-ce vraiment chez Edelweiss que vous devez vous rendre ? », me suggère un passager américain. Oui, de l’autre côté. On me fait alors signe, c’est bien là. « Venez voir plutôt ici », me signifie une charmante hôtesse ! « Écoutez, le vol est annulépour des raisons commerciales. » Bon, cela peut arriver et je compatis. Du coup la demoiselle m’arrange très gentiment un billet pour le lendemain. Edelweiss prend en charge les frais de l’hôtel 4 étoiles Hyatt Regency International Airport juste intégré dans l’aéroport. Waouh ! Autant en profiter.

Fallait-il monter à bord du Boeing 737 MAX 9 ?

Mon nouveau billet émis me fait donc transiter d’Orlando à Washington, puis de Washington à Zurich. Jusqu’ici, rien à signaler, sauf que le premier trajet en question, d’Orlando à Washington donc, est réalisé avec un Boeing 737 Max 9 tout neuf ! Aïe... dans le contexte actuel, de remise en cause de ce Boeing-là, faut-il prendre le risque de monter à bord ? Comme j’organise mes voyages depuis 30 ans avec une agence, Kuoni Bienne, celle-ci m’arrange rapidement un retour en Europe : d’Orlando à Frankfort, puis à Zürich. Et avec quelle compagnie ? Lufthansa ! Et ce au même guichet où j’ai attendu le jour d’avant et où je dois, à nouveau, me remettre à la queue leu, leu. Celle-là ou le touriste américain avait ironisé auparavant : « vous avez de la chance avec Edelweiss (le guichet vide d’à côté), vous serez peut-être le seul dans l’avion ! ». Oui, mais pas dans le Boeing 737 Max.

En tous cas, branle-bas le combat, en ce moment (mercredi 13 mars, 18h) à l’aéroport d’Orlando où, après la décision de Trump d’annuler les vols Boeing 737 Max, les chaînes TV se ruent au hall d’entrée pour filmer le panneau d’affichage qui indique en rouge plusieurs annulations. Je me suis remis dans ma colonne Lufthansa, 4h avant le décollage et cette fois, ça avance, un peu. En fin de compte j’ai eu fin nez de ne pas choisir United Airlines (UA) avec ce « Max » que j’aurais pu prendre et qui aurait encore pu âtre annulé. Comme tant d’autres. Allez, je vous laisse, j’embarque. Enfin ?
