The Florida Today: July 20th, 2011 |
The last BOOM, BOOM
BOOM. BOOM! This is the title of our colleague Florida Today that day describing in detail the reentry of the shuttle Atlantis. And believe me, that makes two very distinct sonic booms that occur at 18,000 m (60'000 feet) after the shuttle has passed through the upper layers of the atmosphere at 27,000 km / h.
This time, there are fewer people to witness the landing because visibility is not the same as for takeoff. The show is obviously less spectacularly but no less exciting. Atlantis is expected to land at 5:56 (local time), 11:56 (Swiss time), but there is a second chance to 7:32 (1:32 p.m. CH). We are all on the lookout !
